Anemones at home

Anemones keep living in the vase - they grow, follow the light and open and close with the day.

  1. Day 1

    A little cool water

Recut the stems and use a few inches of cool water - anemones don't like to stand deep.

  2. Every day

Open by day, closed by night

Anemones open in the light and close in the dark - that's normal; they open again in the morning.

  3. Up to a week

    Fresh water

Change the water every day or two and recut the stems - they keep growing in the vase.

Add a little extra

Ferrero chocolates or a heart balloon - they arrive with the anemones, in the same delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Anemones

When are anemones in season?

Anemones are a cool-season flower - florists usually get them from late fall to spring. When they're in, our anemone bouquets are at the top of this page.

Do you have anemones now?

When anemones are in season, our anemone bouquets appear on this page. The rest of the year we show their closest look-alikes - ranunculus, peonies and tulips.

Why do anemones close at night?

Anemones open in the light and close in the dark, even in a vase. It's normal - they open again in the morning.

How long do anemones last?

About 5–7 days in a few inches of cool water. They keep growing in the vase, so recut the stems and change the water every day or two.

What flower looks like an anemone?

Ranunculus - they are cousins from the same family, with the same silky petals. Peonies and tulips have the same soft spring look.

Can you deliver these bouquets the same day?

Yes. Order by 12 PM and choose a window: 11 AM – 3 PM, 3 PM – 7 PM or 6 PM – 9 PM. Some bouquets can be ordered for today until 3 PM; later orders go out the next day - and for tomorrow or any later date we also deliver from 6 AM, until 11 PM or in a one-hour window, at no extra charge.

What does the anemone flower symbolize?

Anticipation and protection. In Greek myth anemones grew where Aphrodite wept for Adonis, so red anemones also stand for deep, lasting love.

Can I send flowers anonymously?

Yes. Check the “Send anonymously” box at the bottom of the checkout page - we won't share your name or phone number with the recipient.
